Birds provide the soundtrack to my life. They are colorful, funny, and full of wonderful songs and other strange sounds. Some even seem pre-historic. They are everywhere, which is great since I can take bird pictures wherever I go. Birds also include you in their family life, but not intentionally. They nest in and around your house, back yard and trees. They raise their babies (like some of the ducks pictured here) right in front of you. They also provide an annual delight when the migratory species arrive for the Spring ritual of nesting and raising babies. They can provide a sense of drama, like the migratory Ospreys that arrive every spring only to go to go on the war path with the year-round Bald Eagle residents. The Montagues and Capulets pale in comparison to this rivalry. Sadly, many bird species are in decline due to loss of habitat and other man-made challenges. The pictures in this gallery were taken both in Wyoming and on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
